Paris’s take on the charity shop
A look inside Merci

merci entranceWe dropped in on Merci in Paris the other day. What a great place to wander around.

It’s only been open about a year, and the idea is you can shop with a good conscience. The store donates all profits to a women’s charity in Madagascar, but it’s hardly your normal charity shop.

This is a place to browse and drift through and let yourself be taken by surprise. It has stuffed animals and other objects scattered across its three floors. And it stocks flowers, designer clothing, furniture, garden accessories, second hand books and much more than you can imagine. The clothes range from contemporary French fashion like Isabel Marant to high end designer labels. It also has a cafe. And everything is beautifully chosen.

We even spotted Sunspel in there, lurking in an old wardrobe.

If you find yourself in Paris, we highly recommend a visit.
