UNDER THEIR SPELL
Shoreditch High Street in London is in a tug of war. To the South lies the shining skyscrapers of the City and to the North, the ever trendy (read: bit scummy) Dalston (watch out Clapton, you’re next!) and a pleasing parade of bars, clubs and strip-joints. To add to this eclecticism, in a month’s time luxury underwear brand Sunspel will open its flagship store here. It’s housed in a fully-restored Victorian building, where original elements of the shop’s facade have been restored alongside antique furniture from the original Sunspel factory. British menswear designer JW Anderson has been brought onboard to inject a new spin on the 150-year-old company’s traditional collection for Autumn Winter 2010, which will sit alongside Sunspel’s long-running collection of classic underwear, t-shirts and polo shirts. One added quirk that we adore is the inclusion of Levi 501’s. The two brands have had a long relationship ever since Nick Kamen famously dropped his jeans to reveal Sunspel knickers in the iconic ’80s Levi advert.
