A pair of early Everlasts
The early decades of the 20th century were a hotbed of innovation in all kinds of fields. In 1917 a young businessman named Jacob Golomb, whose company made long-lasting swimwear (hence the name Everlast), was introduced to boxing by a pugilist called Jack Dempsey. Dempsey asked Golomb to make him some protective headgear that would last much longer in sparring than the headgear that then existed. Golomb made the headgear, it worked, and he looked around for something else to redesign.

A lot of interesting things are happening near our shop in London. A mould-breaking coffee house has just opened in the same road – it’s called Penny University. Forget your skinny latte and your mocha, forget even your espresso. These guys are serious coffee purists.

Last week our director Nick spent a few days in Japan, and while he was there he took some photographs. As these pictures reveal, it’s a culture with many similarities to ours but some strange differences too.

Billy Joe Saunders is a young British professional boxer (and a rising star), and the film shows him modelling some of our clothes in an East End gym.
