The company is based in Long Eaton, near Nottingham, in the factory we have occupied for the best part of a century. We continue to draw on the traditional clothing techniques and expertise of the Nottingham area where the company was founded back in 1860. We also have offices in London, where the marketing, online and wholesale team reside.

Production Assistant (Long Eaton)

We have a unique opportunity within our business; we are looking for a Production Assistant who is engaged and excited by our brand

The role is based in our design studio in Long Eaton near Nottingham. 

The Role

As a Production Assistant you will be working with the Production Director to purchase all raw materials from fabrics to trims, liaising directly with suppliers and chasing orders for critical delivery dates. Assisting with the Shipping & Logistics (Import & Export). Ensure products are delivered in a timely manner in line with the Critical path. Plan production with in-house facility and maximise fabric usage. Procurement of externally sourced finished product (clothing and accessories) and packing materials.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on costing the collections and making any amendments through the computer system within agreed deadli
  • Through the computer system, analyse sales i. style, quality, colour, quantity, and sizes to assess the manufacturing capacity required. Check availability, schedule requirements and book production space.
  • Constantly liaise with suppliers on fabric/trims, to constantly review fabric and trims availability and update manufacturers on dev
  • Reserve space for all processing required away from main manufacturing site, if required (e. laundries, dyers, embroiders, printers etc.) and ensure that the information is accurately reflected on the computer system e.g. style costings and work production orders.
  • Contribute, where required, to departmental sampling through liaison with the Technical Review sample accuracy and graded pattern requirements. Ensure that all style and colour variation components are accurately listed and reflected in the computer system.

 

  • Create work orders via computer system on both continuity product and forward orders. Orders must also be processed for mid-season production when required and call off stock when these suppliers are used, using the same computerised method, and again ensuring accurate reflection in style costings and work production orders.
  • Work in progress should always be monitored and house kept through the computer system to genuinely reflect anticipated deliveries from suppliers. Deliveries of completed orders should be monitored and chased, where necessary, and any shortfalls reflected in the computer system.
  • To work with and support the Head of production with all internal reporting, Pricing, Delivery schedules and any other reports that we require for the business.        
  • Complete  support   and   continual   contact   with   factories    should    be maintained    throughout    the    main    production    se     Full     quality inspections/audits must be implemented and maintained.
  • Returned garments/seconds from customers should be checked on a weekly basis with the Returns Supervisor and the relevant procedures followed.
  • Any other duties not specified above, as outlined by your Line Manager and considered relevant for the proper performance of your role.

Experience and Skills

  • 3 years’ experience in similar role(s)
  • Manufacturing, production, procurement background
  • Excellent knowledge working with a critical path
  • Used to working in a fast-paced environment and have a proactive approach to tasks.
  • knowledge in scheduling, planning and prioritising workflow and meeting deadlines.
  • Good analytical skills, competent on MS Excel and the ability to learn in-house systems quickly.
  • Super organised; ability to plan, schedule and collaborate with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • An understanding of import and export logistics.

Junior Graphic Designer (London)

The Role

As Sunspel’s Junior Graphic Designer you will sit within our Creative team in London and work closely with the Art Director and Creative Director to support the marketing, online and retail teams. You will work closely with the Art Director on a wide range of projects, including but not limited to; sunspel.com, email marketing, paid advertising, organic social, retail windows, packaging, and  seasonal lookbooks. The position requires a confident creative mindset, with an understanding of the luxury fashion market and an exceptional eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Together with the Art Director and Creative Director you must be a diligent brand guardian – ensuring brand visual and design directions are adhered to across all channels.
  • Develop creative layouts for Sunspel.com; including layout guides and assets for homepage, landing pages and additional content pages.
  • Work with the CRM Manager and Art Director to design automated and seasonal broadcast emails. Supplying all required assets in a timely and ordered manner.
  • Work with the Art Director/Graphic Designer and Creative Director to build a deep understanding of the Sunspel brand ethos, history and products. Applying this knowledge to all customer facing channels.
  • Upload and maintain content on the Sunspel journal, including updating all existing outdated content to the new visual layout
  • Design and artwork in-store printed creative; lightboxes, signage, postcards etc.
  • Collaborate with marketing and external paid digital agency to create best in market assets for digital advertising. Contributing knowledge of industry best practice and innovative ideas on how to drive the brand forward in the digital space.
  • Research competitors and best in market design in the digital and retail space. Be confident in presenting your ideas to the wider creative team.
  • Design and artwork Sunspel packaging and swing tickets.
  • Assist Art Director and Creative Director in developing creative directions for in-house photography shoots. 
  • Assist the Art Director on adhoc projects.

Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience in a graphic design role. Experience in a similar brand, retailer or agency is preferred.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating the above.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Skills in Premier Pro or similar video editing software would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and excel.
  • Strong graphic design skills: understanding and experience in typography, layout, colour theory.
  • Excellent eye for detail, with the ability to identify and rectify design errors on the website.
  • Genuine interest in the fashion and retail industry.
  • Proactive, organised and flexible.
  • Digital-mobile-first mindset.
  • Comfortable in working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks, meeting deadlines and work well under pressure.

Store Manager (London)

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Store Manager to join our London Retail team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the store and employees, creating a positive and motivational environment, encouraging them to generate sales and provide exceptional customer service
  • Exceeding store and personal targets and KPIs
  • Ensuring the store is always presentable and according to merchandising standards
  • Analysing sales and key performance indicators and taking the required actions to drive these
  • Reaching out and maintaining a good relationship with local businesses and neighbours
