The company is based in Long Eaton, near Nottingham, in the factory we have occupied for the best part of a century. We continue to draw on the traditional clothing techniques and expertise of the Nottingham area where the company was founded back in 1860. We also have offices in London, where the marketing, online and wholesale team reside.

Menswear Merchandiser

Our timeless wardrobe classics are a part of Britain’s cultural heritage. We made some of the world’s earliest T-shirts in the late 1800s, introduced the Boxer Short to the UK in 1947, and our Riviera Polo Shirt was tailored for the ultimate icon of British style, James Bond. We have several stores in London, Tokyo and New York as well as being stocked in the top wholesalers globally. Over recent years we have grown our range into a full collection, and we are looking to expand our design team with a design Assistant is to support the team in developing future collections.

The Role

You will; plan, trade and analyse the Sunspel menswear range across our e-commerce and retail stores. Responsible for managing the stock levels within our stores and warehouses to ensure we potentialize any sales opportunities and reduce any markdown risk. You will be reporting into the Head of Merchandising and will be responsible for managing and developing more junior members of the team. You will work closely with Design, Production, Retail & E-com team and build strong relationships with the Finance, Marketing and Wholesale teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Forecast sales budgets at seasonal and category level, support by analysis and present to directors.
  • Range build – Collaborate with design, hit agreed buy budgets, balance historical data with the latest trends.
  • Trade – Focus on the best and worst styles, collaborate with all teams within the business to optimize or improve performance.
  • Excellent communicator - Share insightful analysis with the brand, presenting to the senior leadership team and influencing the commerciality of the range.
  • Manage promotions and sales – Help define the discounting strategy, select lines to reduce and depths.
  • Control stock levels within the business - Forecasts stock required to hit sales plans within each channel, ensure critical path deadlines are followed, agree timescales and delivery dates with production, complete all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Manage the distribution of stock, ensure the allocation strategy achieves the company’s objectives, oversee stock consolidations of fragmented styles.
  • Use specialist in-house computer software to oversee sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets, graphs and other data when required to do so.
  • Profile customers seasonally, share this information with the wider business.
  • Challenge current ways of working, bring new ideas and processes to make us as efficient as possible.
  • Any other duties required by your line Manager.

Experience and skills

  • You will have at least 5 years’ experience in merchandising and be operating at senior AM level or above.
  • Experience of strategy creation and execution
  • Experience of clothing merchandising essential
  • Experienced in range planning
  • Experienced in forecasting & managing OTB
  • Excellent PC skills
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Have a good understanding of working to critical dates and deadlines.
  • Passionate about your work with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage own time.
  • Excellent IT skills, Microsoft Office, and Excel.

 

This is a full-time role based at EITHER our head office in Long Eaton, Nottingham, OR London.

Travel will be required with the role, to visit stores and factories.

Assistant Store Manager (London)

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Store Manager to join our London Retail team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the store and employees, creating a positive and motivational environment, encouraging them to generate sales and provide exceptional customer service
  • Exceeding store and personal targets and KPIs
  • Ensuring the store is always presentable and according to merchandising standards
  • Analysing sales and key performance indicators and taking the required actions to drive these
  • Reaching out and maintaining a good relationship with local businesses and neighbours
  • Administrative duties such as reporting daily sales figures to head office, organising the staff rota and payroll

Online Trading Manager (UK and EMEA)

Online Trading Manager (USA and Rest of World)

The Company

The company originated as a manufacturer of jersey underwear and boxer shorts, and still runs its original UK factory in Long Eaton, Nottingham, producing the finest quality cotton T-shirts. The brand now extends to a full range of wardrobe essentials for men and women from shirting to outerwear, with exceptional quality and stylish, understated design at its core. It now has six permanent stores in London, as well as in New York and Tokyo. It is stocked in various luxury international retailers globally and has a thriving online business.

The Role

The Online Trading Manager will be responsible for the commercial success of the country site views that they will trade – setting targets, providing insight on results, reviewing all levels of the sales funnel, and working with various teams to deliver the strongest performance for their markets. They will be responsible for not only the sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction of their respective sites but also the brand presence. Conversion, buy-to-detail, and add-to-cart rates will be common phrases in your everyday, while you continually seek to create growth from your traffic channels. You will work collaboratively across functions to maximise the customer experience and journey of all visitors to Sunspel.com.

Responsibilities

  • Alongside the Managing Director, be responsible for the sales and profitability of your site views, monitoring, reporting on and meeting your KPI’s
  • Develop and execute web trading campaigns and initiatives, including promotions, to drive profitable sales, grow brand awareness, acquire new customers and increase the operational efficiency of your channel.
  • Ensure your sites are up-to-date and relevant to their respective customer markets from a brand, marketing, communications, commercial and translation perspective
  • Impeccable visual merchandising of the website at all times with all products up and on time with their relevant drops into the business
  • Identify and report on trends, buying behaviours and product opportunities
  • Turn insight into action at both a team and organisation level to drive performance
  • Work closely with buying and merchandising teams to ensure a strong product assortment and stock position for each site view
  • Be responsible for shipping rates and services to all customers in your region, working alongside operations and customer services
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to create strong CRM and loyalty initiatives to reward your customers
  • Liaise with internal and external providers to ensure an excellent customer experience for all visitors to the website
  • Work closely with our external and internal team on development and other initiatives to improve shopping on site and ultimately conversion rates
  • Develop strong relationships with all teams to ensure that we are aligned in our approach and always place the customer at the centre of what we do
  • Manage an e-commerce executive reporting to you.

Experience and Skills: 

  • 7+ years’ experience in a Digital/Online e-commerce role
  • You will be experienced in leveraging every traffic-driving channel to exceed sales targets.
  • You will be familiar with Magento 2 or a similar system
  • You will be highly numerical - Google Analytics, Ometria, Hotjar and Tableau (or similar systems) will all be familiar to you
  • You have managed a team
  • Experience in managing multiple site-views, languages, currencies, and shipping options, preferably with more than one language
  • You have worked in apparel or fashion and understand the brand’s market positioning
