Sunspel for Goldeneye

We have teamed up with The GoldenEye Resort in Oracabessa Bay – originally the home of Ian Fleming and where he wrote the 007 thrillers – to create a limited edition polo shirt, inspired by our shared association with James Bond.

The limited edition polo shirt is based on our jersey polo which has a refined fit and only the most essential of details. It is made in England at our factory in Long Eaton, Nottingham, using the most luxurious 100% two fold, long-staple cotton and comes in a rich shade of blue developed in collaboration with The GoldenEye Resort.

We have a longstanding history with Bond dates back to 2006 when Sunspel friend and Academy Award Winning costume designer, Lindy Hemming, was tasked with outfitting 007 for the Casino Royale film. We worked together from our factory to tailor the Riviera Polo – a style that we have been making since the 1950s – to best suit the modern man of action and style. The arms were shortened and the fit across the chest was slimmed to flatter a muscular physique. We have made our Riviera Polo to these amended specifications ever since.

We worked with Lindy Hemming  again in 2011 when Hemming was involved in the exhibition ‘Designing 007: Fifty years of Bond Style’. Here, we recreated the swim shorts worn by Sean Connery in the early Bond films of the 1960s. The design of the shorts remained faithful to the original pair worn by Connery and were such a success that soon after, we launched our first line of swimwear.
