We continue to draw on the traditional clothing techniques and expertise of the Nottingham area where the company was founded back in 1860. We also have offices in London, where the marketing, online and wholesale team reside.

HR Manager (Nottingham)

The Role

The HR Manager will be the go-to person for all employee-related issues. This will involve the following: managing key activities such as job design, recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, training & development and talent management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Manage and improve recruitment and selection processes
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, and procedures across the organisation
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program
  • Oversee payroll in conjunction with Finance
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
  • Support the CEO to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy

Experience and skills

  • Proven working experience as HR Manager in a multi-site business
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Ability to implement strategy along with leadership skills
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company

Merchandiser (Nottingham)

The Role

You will plan, trade and analyse the Sunspel Menswear (casual) womenswear and accessories range across our e-commerce and retail stores. Responsible for managing the stock levels within our stores and warehouses to ensure we potentialize any sales opportunities and reduce any markdown risk. You will be reporting into the Head of Merchandising and will be responsible for managing and developing more junior members of the team. You will work closely with Design, Production, Retail & E-com team and build strong relationships with the Finance, Marketing and Wholesale teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Forecast sales budgets at seasonal and category level, support by analysis and present to directors.
  • Range build – Collaborate with design, hit agreed buy budgets, balance historical data with the latest trends.
  • Trade – Focus on the best and worst styles, collaborate with all teams within the business to optimize or improve performance.
  • Excellent communicator - Share insightful analysis with the brand, presenting to the senior leadership team and influencing the commerciality of the range.
  • Manage promotions and sales – Help define the discounting strategy, select lines to reduce and depths. 
  • Control stock levels within the business - Forecasts stock required to hit sales plans within each channel, ensure critical path deadlines are followed, agree timescales and delivery dates with production, complete all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Manage the distribution of stock, ensure the allocation strategy achieves the company’s objectives, oversee stock consolidations of fragmented styles.
  • Use specialist in-house computer software to oversee sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets, graphs and other data when required to do so.
  • Profile customers seasonally, share this information with the wider business.
  • Challenge current ways of working, bring new ideas and processes to make us as efficient as possible.
  • Any other duties required by your line Manager.

Store Manager (Jermyn Street, London)

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Store Manager to lead our team at our newly opened flagship store on London’s Jermyn Street, a space designed to showcase 160 years of dedication to craftsmanship and fabric innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Managing the store and employees, creating a positive and motivational environment, encouraging the team to generate sales and provide an exceptional client service.
  • Creating an inclusive team environment and culture which celebrates differences and creates a supportive and productive environment

Operations and Product

Experience and skills

  • Minimum of 2 years retail experience (including recruiting, hiring and managing
    performance).
  • Sales driven and results oriented – able to analyse selling reports, identify trends.
  • Organised and service minded – a brand ambassador creating positive customer interactions to build loyalty.
  • Able to multi-task and delegate tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
